I’ve been an avid angler for
many years. I’m on the bay over 100 times a year and I'm always
looking for ways to improve, both in technique and tackle. I picked up
some Rockport Rattlers from Capt. Rex during the development phase of the
lure. It was during the winter of 2003, so I had plenty of chances to try
them out using soft plastics. I told him that I’d be sure and try them. I
was wondering how they would make a difference. I have to admit that I was
skeptical. I know that sound makes a difference, but would it make that
much difference? I thought they might sit in my box and never get used.
I’m a tackle junky and have plenty of other baits to waist time with other
than this. As time went by I had numerous chances and I finally tried
them. The first time I used one, I blew my partners away. The next time it
happened again. I was still skeptical so I experimented using different
applications, slow and fast sinking, clear and dirty water, and rattle or
no rattle. It did make a difference. I’ve seen all of the gimmicks out
there and I can tell you that this isn’t one of them. The Rockport Rattler
has proved itself to make a difference. Whether fishing in the boat or
out, there is an application for its use. It flourishes in low light and
off colored water. I’ve used it to catch when other lures wouldn’t. I’ve
also used it to catch better fish when others were catching small trout.
It also happened to be on the end of my line when I caught the biggest
trout of my life.
Thanks Capt. Rex for letting
me help in the development phase of the Rockport Rattler. It’s proven to
be one of the best additions to my tackle box in a long time. Mike Heidemann Aka “Bayman” December 27,

What can I say? The
Rockport Rattler seems to catch just about anything! I've been using
them with great success on the coast for trout, flounder, and redfish so I
figured why not give them a shot on some bass? I've been throwing
the red head/wildeye Rockport Rattler combined with various plastics and
having great success in the lakes. The Rockport Rattlers will be a
mainstay in my freshwater tackle box from now on. Jason Bryant - American Rodsmiths Pro Staff Houston,

Caught 5 reds, all on
electric blue back/chartreuse belly Norton bull minnow using a 1/16 oz.
Black/GoldEye Rockport Rattler jig head.
This was the first time
I've used the Rockport Rattler, and I think there might be something to
this noise maker. All of the reds were caught by blindcasting in 2-4'
water, and in each case the red was on within a couple of cranks of the
reel." MarkT Victoria,

These RR'ers are
great, I have outfished my buddies 4 -1. Benny Vickery, Cypress, Texas
Last week I was introduced to the Rock Port Rattler
and I was hooked. They seem to work very well. It out fished the other
lead heads we were using. Capt. Dustin Lee Fish'n Addiction Guide

Fished Memorial day in
bad conditions with the wind howling. I fished off the Surf Court pier,
using Norton Sand eel Jrs. Friday night I used a generic jig, and
caught 10 specks, but the largest was 13". I didn't realize how
frustrating it was to catch trout you can't keep! So I had to try the
Rockport Rattler after reading the good reviews and bought some Saturday
at Rockport Tackle Town. Second cast that night with the white ( glow)
head 1/8 oz hooked up to the same Sand eels and caught an 18"
keeper! Fishing was outstanding! While others watched, I pulled in
trout regardless of where I was on the pier. Wound up with 4 nice
keepers (18") 16 I had to thow back, and even caught a few sand trout and
a mullet (?!) looks like anything will hit this rig! I have never had
that many strikes, I lost a few more but it was nothing short of amazing
how often fish would hit the Rattler! I'm already telling my friends and
we can't wait to get back on the water to show them how great it
is. Bryan

Cap'n Rex,
I want to thank you
for introducing the Rockport Rattler. I fished for a month trying to learn
to catch flounder on artificials, with little luck. The timid flounder
bite had me stymied.
Your Rockport Rattlers changed all that!!!!
The flounder bite was aggressive, with absolutely no doubt that they'd
SMACKED it.
I took a friend out later that night to try to catch a
slot red. He hadn't caught a salt water fish since he was 8 years old and
it's not the easiest time of year up here in Galveston Bay but he got one,
and could have gotten several more, but we only had the one lure. I almost
let him try that Rockport Rattler without the plastic, but said Nah,
nobody would believe me except Cap'n Rex.... Chris Marler La Porte, TX

Capt. Rex,
Thank you very much
for your prompt reply to my email. I am very glad to hear that your
product sold well at Tom Nix’s Fishing Expo and I can’t wait to get my
weed less jigs.
I am going to be fishing literally many locations
(i.e. both on the Atlantic and Gulf coasts) in the mid to the lower part
of Florida next week. Would you be interested in me presenting your
product to local bait and tackle shops? I can get their addresses for you
and let you market your product there also.
I am not interested in
any financial enumeration, just really appreciate the time you spent
explaining your product to me at the show and the realization that your
product/s will be a “smash” in Florida too; as their fishing environment
and techniques are very similar to ours in Texas. I can print out material
from your web site.
I bought some of your jigs from Rockport Tackle
Town in Rockport last weekend and THEY caught Redfish…. BIG TIME! I
sincerely hope that your products are a BIG $$ success for you as they
have been for me because I would love to use these products for many
years!
Let me know if you want me to present your products in
Florida!!God Bless, Lowell Rogers
Capt. Rex, Here is the picture of the 26 inch trout caught
the morning of August 31st 2003.
She was caught in Nueces Bay on a
Texas Red Killer, pumpkinseed/chartreuse with 1/8 oz. Chartreuse/RedEye
Rockport Rattler jig head. Caught 5 red's also that morning.
I am sold on your product! John D. McCain Portland,

Capt. Rex,
Your question about the tournament I
placed in this summer goes like this:
The whole thing was I was stinking worse
than the dead bait left on the bottom of the jon boat in July. My buddy
took me to a great spot with the Rockport Rattler's and we commenced to
pounding big flatfish. Now I don't really ever remembering catching that
many BIG flatfish in one day in the dead of summer. The RR's made a big
difference. And yes that person and his family was in the same tournament
again this year. They mopped up on the trout though. I was just ounces
away from 1st. But several years of fishin it weighing in short or only to
be bumped paid off this year with the RR.
I may be boasting about
the RR, but when your scratching to get a winner and you been going all
week just about 24/7 and nothing to show for, you will pull out the secret
weapon! Your luck is going to change. I use them because they work for me.
Thanks for the invention and all the help with using it Trout Scout. This
year is one to remember, I got photos, a plaque, and money to
spend.
As far as catching trout, Well I got something to tell ya
too. The Rockport Rattler ‘s has picked up plenty of nice trout for me.
I have caught more trout this year than in years past. I have never
been a trout person when it comes to it. During the tournament I will
catch trout but I target something to show for at that time. As for Red
fish I have done the same plus been out with a friend who has been
catching reds with the RR!
The Rockport
Rattler catches a variety of fish. I've caught black tip shark, and 3 ft.
ribbon fish in the middle of west bay with them. I seen when the fishing
is slow and the fish don't bite on shrimp that they will attack the
Rockport Rattler! When was the last time you caught a BIG black drum off
of PLASTIC WITH A RR????
Don't think I am
advertising. I’m making a testimony to what I use. So you might give them
a try and let us know how you do with them.
Looking forward to the
winter sow trout, I got something in my box they are not ready for
now!! Kevin
